​Fern Matthews is an artist and sculptor whose interest in art and architecture is evident throughout her work. Her experimentation with light and dimensionality merge with her practice of simplicity, with emphasis on line and shape, to form a broader vision of painted planes. and the manipulation of  line and shape to form a broader vision of painted planes.

Matthews' sculptures and paintings are represented in the permanent collections of The Women's Museum of California, and Southampton General Hospital,  and in private collections throughout the United States and The Caribbean. Her work was exhibited in Miami Art Basel, and has been featured in both solo and group shows in New York City, New Orleans, The Hamptons, Orlando, and other cities throughout Florida.  

 

Matthews won a grant from Creative Capital and the National Endowment for the Arts, and is a recipient of a Professional Development grant from United Arts in cooperation with the State of Florida. She resides in Orlando, Florida, and East Hampton, New York.
